                 019 . 10,000 Hours... Mostly wasted...?

Let me preface this with the fact that I raided really hard and long SO LONG, SO HARD, in Vanilla.  We cleared all the raids over the course of Saturday/Sunday.  I'm a perfectionist so naturally I always came with all the buffs I possibly could.   Then the data came out for what was going to be in BC.  About 1/3 of the entire guild I was in jumped out of the game and quit.  Sure, most of us came back.  But the fact that a lot of our best in slot was going to be easily replaced / upgrade well before 65 from just quest items?  No.

Hey douche, what do you want, content to be so super fucking easy you 1shot your way to max level?

I didn't say that.  But if blizzard kept raising the stats in expansions like they did through the course of content in an expansion, yeah, mobs would be pretty easy, sure.  That's where the intelligent quest design they've been doing where many of the quests don't really matter what gear you have based on what you're doing and the mechanics of it - but forcing everyone who spent literally hundreds upon hundreds of hours working on being as best geared as possible to handle raid content as smoothly as can be handled to the same level with an expansion is fucking stupid.  Nothing against lazy people but the fact that King Pressure and Finger in Ass are both similarly geared 3 days into an expansion, that's fucked.

There's truly no real, legit reason things can't remain balanced upwards so that best in slot gear can't be useful to at least the next max level of dungeon.  Maybe even Heroics.  But surely not replaced by greens from quests very early on.  That's madness.

So you hate people and you want to do nothing in game?

I love achievements, they're fun.  Many random, silly things you do just to get them.  But it's fun.  Part of it is wow, what made them think of this achievement?  Lets go do that!  Just for the absurdity if not the achievement itself.  Yes, I'm going to bounce on this trampoline 30 times in a row!  Fuck it lets try for 100 just for lols!  haha.  You know?  And I already wrote a large section on PVP.  But still, trudging through that system for those achievements is pretty impressive.  I haven't done it on my main but I intend to at some point.

I'm not discrediting the fun of raiding with friends.  That's awesome.  Who cares about gear when you have a group of people you love being challenged with.  Sure, part of my bitterness is I've been with some really fun, exciting and hilarious groups of people raid wise.  I just get bummed out when one selfish asshole tears it apart to put together whatever group they think would be better - less fun but better progression.  And it has been my luck that such things have happened multiple times.  It's vastly depressing.  So not even having the gear be useful into expansions (besides the initial burst of quests 'till the upgrades start falling, which you can do just fine with generally crap gear.)

That's really all I have on that but I'm sure as I remember things I'll expand this simply because I've had some conversations that went on several times longer than what I've posted about this so far.  Just can't remember right now.  Drank a little too much last night I'm sorry.

Addition:  I want to say that I am very happy with the new heroic/hardmode type stuff they did in Ulduar and forward.  Even Naxx, the harder ways to do things.  I love those challenges.  I found raids previously too easy and it really annoyed me 'till I got into doing heroic modes and such.  But again, with the gear situation and my bad luck with groups of people to raid with.... Yeah.. I sit it out... The new loot system though for raids in mop, that sounds really great and should make pugging more fun based on not having to worry about people ninjaing.  good times.
